BOOKONE_JERKDUET_TheDayIStoppedFallingForJerks_FinalCover

I have a long history of dating the wrong men.

You know the ones I’m talking about.

The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true.

The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships.

I’m talking about the jerks.

The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad.

After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways.

But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy.

Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved.

Aussie accent.

Tanned skin.

Muscular, surfer bod.

Gorgeous brown eyes.

And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees.

Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother?

Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys.

The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

Excerpt:

The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks podcast

Episode 1: “Is this thing on?”

Hi, everyone.

I’d like to welcome you to episode one of my very first podcast.

[quiet, hesitant laugh]

I’m a little nervous, so please bear with me as I try to figure out how to podcast.

See, I’m more a writer of words than a podcaster of words, but what I’m about to tell you is honestly too damn big to fit into one of my columns.

Way too big.

It’s a real doozy, guys, but I have to get it out.

And I’m hoping, once I finish recording this—since my boss says I might start feeling symptomatic of, say, poisoning, if I ruin this new venture—I’ll actually be able to upload it to Scoop’s website. Apparently, I’m told, podcasting is the wave of the future, and if we—meaning Scoop—don’t get our foot in the door first, we—meaning I—might as well find another room. Room meaning office.

I’m pretty sure she’ll fire me, okay?

Still, I figure pouring my guts out to a bunch of strangers has to be at least close to therapeutic, so consider my fingers and toes crossed that my technical inability doesn’t mean it’s for nothing.

[mumble from producer]

Oh, good. I’m told the uploading portion of this podcast will be taken care of by someone else. Smart move, guys.

[laughs again]

Okay, so where do I even begin?

[long, audible sigh]

Well, I guess my love life would be a good start, huh?

I mean, it’s the whole reason I’m here, ready to pour my heart out to you.

The past.

The present.

The future, as I’ve sworn and promised it to myself.

They’re all kind of a hot mess, but it’s really the chaos I’ve gotten myself into this time that made me decide to take action.

Think of a woman trying to stand up in a hammock during an earthquake, and then throw in a writhing pit of cobras dancing below it for good measure. Add in the task of juggling several oddly shaped objects and a horrible lack of hand-eye coordination, and you might have some idea of what I look like while trying to navigate lust, like, and love.

Relationships, dating, finding love…God, you guys, it is so hard.

I envy those people who manage to find the love of their lives on a first date or—even more mind-blowing—a chance encounter a la love-at-first-sight that blossoms into a long-term courtship.

Like, how in the hell does that even happen?

It feels like some trippy, magical unicorn kind of stuff or, worse yet, an evil consecration for those with a special, dark gift. And I’m not exactly comfortable exploring how many pagan gods I’d have to promise ill-willed deeds to in order to experience the easy road to love.

Heck, even the hard road.

As long as it didn’t end in disaster, I’d be ahead of where I am now—where I always seem to be.

See, I’ve been a serial dater, a constant cultivator of bad relationships, for as long as I can remember.

Even my kindergarten boyfriend, Kenny, is a prime example of what I’ve come to know as normal.

He was a swoony little guy, even at the ripe age of nearly six, and I was a naïve five-year-old, hungry for pure love. We were happy for about a day and a half, but when another skirt-wielder, Amber Carter, ran by, the apparent love of his life—Kenny’s description of me—wasn’t the only twinkle in his mossy green eyes anymore. One push off the monkey bars, and my first official relationship promptly ended in what would be one of many breakups for me.

Think of all the very worst guys to date—the players, the weirdos, the clingy momma’s boys, and the jerks…good God, picture the jerks.

Do you have those men in your head?

Well, I, Luciana “Lucky” Wright, have dated them all.

It might sound like an exaggeration, but it’s not. I’ve been there, done that, written the book, and filmed the Lifetime movie.

And all those good-for-nothing men left me with were weeks filled with Netflix binges fueled by ice cream and the same question rolling through my mind—Where are all the good men?

You know, the men who are actually worthy of us. The men who know what they want and have good intentions to boot. The ones who know how to truly love a woman, one woman, for the rest of their lives.

Are they underground somewhere? In one of those highly discriminatory bunkers from the movie Deep Impact, perhaps? Do I actually have to discover the meaning of life to get the password?

I honestly don’t know. But I believe, in order for you to truly understand my frustration, I need to show you the final straw in my never-ending cycle of dating jerks. The moment that made me say “Sayonara, Jerks!” and write them off for good.

It’s going to feel like some serious Romeo and Juliet kind of stuff, but I can tell you, a Shakespearean love story it is not.

Keep listening. You’ll see.

What to say about this book? Is it possible to want to say everything and be speechless at the same time? Do you know that kind of book that will stay with you for the rest of your life? This is it. Emma has a gift with words. She transforms them into emotions so effortlessly, that you feel them in your soul. She weaves them together in such a way that they become another thing altogether. Poetry and prose, happy and sad, hate and love. It’s impossible to say too much abou the book without ruining it, but I have to say that Wes is one of the most complex character that I have read. One of my favorite things in this book (or this duet) is that it is not about a couple, it is about a group of people and how each decision affect everyone. I cried, I laughed, I sobbed, hated a certain mother, wanted to throw my kindle at the wall and displayed almost all possible emotion. The only one I didn’t feel was indifference. Read this book, it will change you.

Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else.
Never again would I let a man (or men) come between me and my goals.
Never again would I love without feeling the fullness of that love in return.
Not until I knew it was real. And if that took me a lifetime to find, so be it.

Those were my vows, and after all that had happened with Connor and Weston, I was determined to keep them. To protect my heart.
And then he came home, and my vows became his promises.

He held my heart in his hands with reverence and care.
He helped me find my soul’s greatest purpose in life.
He loved me with a love so pure and vibrant, I knew I’d never feel anything like it in a hundred lifetimes.
It was real.

Until it wasn’t.
Until it all came crashing down when I discovered the deep love I thought I’d found was nestled in a web of lies—so soft and silken I hadn’t noticed it was there.
Until it was too late.

I fell for Connor Drake. I didn’t want to; I fought against it, but I fell in love with him anyway. With his words. With his poetry. With him. The gentleness and beauty of his soul that speaks directly to mine. He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow.

I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way, and yet there’s electricity in the air between us. The thorny barbs Weston wraps around himself can’t keep me away.

But the more time I spend with these men, the more tangled and confused my emotions become. When they both sign up for the Army Reserves during a time of increasing strife in the Middle East, I fear I’ll never unravel my own heart that sometimes feels as if it will tear straight down the middle…for both of them.

Review

Everyone deserves a second chance in life? To create new dreams, new relationships and in the end, a new life. For me, this was the central point in The Wrong Game. More than the romance, it was the chance of a new beginning. For Gemma and for Zach. This was my first book by Kandi, but will not be the last. I’m in love with her prose, her words and her book. 5 stars for sure!

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Resenha – Dane

17/10/2018

Sinopse

Synopsis

Eu estou acostumado a estar no poder.
Nas audiências. Na vida. No quarto.
Mas aí eu o conheci.

Ele me coloca literalmente ajoelhado.

Lindo. Carismático. Sensual.

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster, comes a new MM standalone novel!

I’m used to being in charge.
In the courtroom. In life. In the bedroom.
But then I met him.

He brings me literally to my knees.

Handsome. Charismatic. Sexy as hell.
He’s everything I desperately crave to possess.

I’m burning to get him beneath me just to have a taste.
Turns out, though, one taste isn’t enough.
And he’s starved for me too.

Two alphas fighting for dominance.
He thrives on control and I can’t give it up.

A battle of wills.
The bedroom is the battlefield and our hearts are on the line.

Review

Recomendo a leitura. Taboo? Check!
MM? Check!
Age GAP? Check!
GFY? Check!

K Webster checked a lot of boxes on her new book in her Taboo series. Dane have never a relationship with a man and is on his late 40’s. This book, for me, was one that Ms. K went deeper into the emotional side of the story than her other ones in this world. It was never only about the relationship. It was about self-discovery, family and fighting for your happiness. I really liked this one and recommend it.

About K. Webster

K Webster is the author of dozens romance books in many different genres including contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, and erotic romance. When not spending time with her husband of twelve years and two adorable children, she’s active on social media connecting with her readers.

Her other passions besides writing include reading and graphic design. K can always be found in front of her computer chasing her next idea and taking action. She looks forward to the day when she will see one of her titles on the big screen.

Resenha – Dear Jane

16/10/2018

Resenha

Review

4 Estrelas 4 Stars

Super recomendo!

Second Chance Romance is one of my favorites tropes in romance. The What If that gets the answer. The chance of righting its wrongs. The chance of mature people to save what they lost when teenagers/young adults. What I most like of second chance romances, it’s the courage to get what you want, what you need. Dear Jane was good in this point, both characters knew what they wanted and worked for it. There was no tip-toeing around each other, there was no false pretenses. It was refreshing and a really good story. Kendall has a way with words that it’s easy to recognize her writing and I love it. If you like Second Chance and sports romances, give it a go!

I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***
He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.

Resenha – Five Years Gone

Hoje temos nossa resenha de Five Years Gone da autora Marie Force. Boa leitura!

Today we have our review of Five Years Gone, by Marie Force. Enjoy!

Sinopse/Synopsis

Resenha

Review

Wow! This book was a punch in the gut. When I read the blurb, I knew it would be emotional, with a lot of angst and would be difficult to keep my emotions in check. But I have to say I was not prepared at all! I didn’t know for whom to give my loyalty to, for whom to love, or whom to hate. I spent to whole book in a roller-coaster of emotions. I cried, I laughed, I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall. For me, this is the proof that it’s a great book, and paired with Marie’s amazing writing, it couldn’t be anything but a 5 star read. Have you tried putting yourself in the place of our leading character? What would you do if the person you love left your life without an explanation? Would you wait 5 years to start living again? Would you hate them? I don’t know what I’d do, but I loved reading to Ava’s story. Can’t wait to read more in this world!

Revelação de Capa – The Boy I Grew Up With

11/10/2018

Revelação de Capa da autora Tijan! The Boy I Grew Up With será lançado em 29 de outubro. Cover Reveal by Tijan. The Boy I Grew Up with will be released on October 29.

Blurb

I have loved Channing Monroe all my life.
In first grade, he asked for my Trapper Keeper.
I hit him in the head with it.
Third grade, we were best friends. We kissed in seventh grade.
Eighth grade, he turned into a bad boy and the rest was a tumultuous storm.
Growing up, the problem was never love for us.
Bad times. Good times. There were times when I felt our love in every inch of my body,
vibrating, making me feel like it could bring me back to life.
The problem was us.
The problem is that we’re from two different worlds now.
Fallen Crest and its millionaires for me. Roussou and their criminals for him. I was thriving in mine and he was running his.
But…
But there were nights I felt we couldn’t be further apart than we were, and there were nights I felt we shared the same heartbeat.
When was it time?
When was it time to either sacrifice, make a change, or walk away from the boy I grew up with?

EXCERPT

“What are you doing here?”
His arms tightened a little around me, and his hand rubbed over my leg. I was buck naked
in his arms. I should’ve dressed, but I didn’t have the energy.
His breath felt good on my neck as he answered. “I was up with the guys. I missed you.”
Meaning: he’d either been fighting or drinking with the group of guys he considered
more family than family.
I lifted one of his hands to inspect the knuckles, rubbing a thumb over them. “They don’t
look bruised up.”
His body tensed, all six feet of pure muscle.
Channing had a face for the fashion runways, a body of tattoos that could appear in any
magazine, and an attitude that made him a leader among the rowdiest and most criminally
inclined. He was whip smart, ruthless, cunning, cocky, and had a charming side that had started
some of our fights. He could be too charming at times, putting his name on a lot of girls’ to-do
lists. It’d been a problem for us since we were kids, and though it’d gotten better over the last
few years, I knew women came onto him regularly.
But being transparent here, that wasn’t the cause of our problems lately.
His voice was quiet. “I wasn’t fighting.”
I turned and tried to smell his breath. There was a slight trace of bourbon, but that
might’ve been mine. “You don’t seem drunk either.”
He chuckled, his eyes studying every inch of my face. He did this when he was trying to
figure out where I was going with my statements and if that’d take us into a fight. We acted like
we were married and in our sixties

Resenha – Love Sincerely Yours

11/10/2018

Review

Who doesn’t love a enemy to lovers? Or a office romance? Sara and Meghan were really successful in doing these trope right. Funny, with a lot of laugh out loud moments, romantic and at some times emotional. I really like books where besides the romance, you can see friendship and the characters developing their work life. This book is not only about romance, it’s about getting what you want and what you need. I loved to see Rome and Peyton discovering their love and Peyton discovering her career. Hunter was a great comedic relief and I can’t wait to read his story!

Dear Mister…**strike out** no, too formal.

Hey there sweet cheeks *strike out* no, too forward.

To whom it may concern,

Full disclosure; before we move forward with this email, I would like it to be known that I have consumed an adequate amount of alcoholic beverages to intoxicate myself tonight. Three margaritas, two shots, and one beer—because it was free.

I think it’s important to be open and honest with your co-workers, don’t you?

So here I am, being honest. Drunk but honest. Or just drunk with lust? You decide.

I like you so much it’s clouding my judgment and making me do things I never would sober. Like write this letter.

I have a hopeless, foolish, schoolgirl crush on you when you are the last person on earth I should be falling for. Did you know people around the office call you a sadist? An egomaniac. An insensitive, arrogant prick. Your bark is worse then your bite, and you don’t scare me. The fact is, I’d love that bite of yours to nip at my bare skin while we’re both wearing nothing but sheets.

For once I want you to look at me as more than one of your employees.

And as long as we’re being honest, that navy blue suit you wear? With the crisp white shirt? It really makes me want to loosen your tie and show you who’s boss.

Love,

Sincerely,

Yours.

I open the company messenger app on my phone and scroll through the executive names, knowing full well I’m about to break a policy. It’s the company’s phone, and the company’s app, and I’m about to use it for personal use. To flirt.

With my boss.

I close my eyes, find his name—next to it is a little, green dot, which means. . .

He’s on the app.

I’ve never talked to him live before so this is a huge step, but then again, it might be more fun to get his initial reactions to my comments.

Debating it for all but two seconds, I type out a message to him, making sure I’m signed on under my LSY persona.

HandsRomingMyBody: Hey you.

My text turns into a new message on the app and I wait on bated breath to see if he will respond. Nerves prickle up my spine, my fingers feeling numb, my mind playing mutiny with my heart just as little dots appear letting me know he’s typing.

Oh God, I don’t think I’ve been more excited.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
