E para mim, esse livro fica bem no meio desses dois estilos. Uma delicioso romance que se passa em uma cidade pequena, recheado de fam\u00edlia e aventuras. Griffin \u00e9 o perfeito her\u00f3i fechado e Ren \u00e9 o raio de sol em sua vida. Com uma excelente qu\u00edmica e personagens maravilhosos, \u00e9 o tipo de romance gostoso para ler numa tarde pregui\u00e7osa. Super recomendo!<\/td>\nIt’s no secret that I love Meghan’s work and her writing style. She can delivery a great drama and make you read out loud with her rom-coms. For me this book is the middle ground between the two genres. A delicious small town romance, filled with family and adventure. Griffin is the perfect closed of hero and Ren is a ray of sunshine in his life. With great chemistry and awesome characters, it’s the kind of feel good romance to read on a lazy afternoon. I greatly recommend it!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

I\u2019m counting out our register drawer, trying to stay focused on the numbers whipping through my head, but it\u2019s difficult with Reid\u2019s constant small talk. I jot down another tally mark on the paper in front of me and set aside a stack of bills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHello, are you listening?\u201d Reid asks, sounding annoyed. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo. I\u2019m counting.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m talking about you, so you might want to lend me your ear for a second.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Huffing, I set the cash on the counter, knowing my very persistent brother won\u2019t be quiet until I give him my full attention. \u201cWhat\u2019s up, Reid?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Satisfied, he smiles. \u201cYou should ask her out.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAsk who out?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRen.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Yeah, that\u2019s not going to happen. \u201cNo.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

I go back to counting, but Reid starts snapping his fingers at me. \u201cHey, I wasn\u2019t finished.\u201d I look back up at him, not even slightly interested in this conversation. \u201cI saw the way she was looking at you today. I think she likes you.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re confused. She was probably just being nice, since I\u2019m the guy who pulled her out of the window of her car after her accident. And even if she does like me, which I highly doubt, there\u2019s no interest on my end. So that\u2019s the end of that.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBull,\u201d Reid and Jen both say at the same time. <\/span><\/p>\n

Christ. My two most nagging siblings are ganging up on me. Just what I need when I\u2019m trying to get home and relax.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCan we not make this into a dissection of my personal life, please? I\u2019m not in the mood, and I want to get this done so I can go home.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGriff, she\u2019s pretty, she\u2019s sweet, and she\u2019s smart. She\u2019s new to town and, I\u2019m sure, could use a friend,\u201d Jen says just as the door opens, its bell chiming through the space. Brig pops in, grease all over his shirt and a smirk on his face. <\/span><\/p>\n

Uh-oh. There\u2019s only one reason why he\u2019d be smirking at me that way. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are we talking about?\u201d He rubs his hands together and takes a seat on a barstool near the window. \u201cIf it\u2019s about the hot new teacher in town, I want in on this conversation.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to convince Griff to ask her out.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Brig slow claps his appreciation. \u201cNovel idea. I think they\u2019re a perfect match.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not asking her out,\u201d I huff, giving up on the register and leaning against the wall behind me, arms crossed. There\u2019s no way I\u2019ll be able to concentrate on counting while these three are yapping in my ear. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy the hell not? She\u2019s perfect for you,\u201d Brig says, a little insulted at my rejection. \u201cBefore you even say no, you should at least get to know her a little. I told her today she could borrow your truck while her car is in the shop.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

I count to five before answering, tamping down my temper. \u201cWhy the hell would you do that?\u201d Okay, maybe I didn\u2019t tamp it down enough. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUh, because she lives three houses down from you?\u201d Brig rolls his eyes as if I\u2019m the stupid one in this conversation. \u201cShe needs some help, so be a knight in shining armor, dude. Help out the damsel in distress and then make out with her on the beach. Maybe cop a feel; get some for once.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not doing that,\u201d I answer, going back to the money, letting them know this conversation is over. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd why not?\u201d Jen asks. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I\u2019m not interested in starting or being in a relationship. I\u2019m happy with how my life is right now, and I don\u2019t need anything complicating it.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut she has heart eyes for you,\u201d Brig says like a jackass. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t worry; there are plenty of Knightly brothers to choose from,\u201d I reply. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, Griff, how fun can going home to an empty, lonely house really be?\u201d Jen chimes in, concern evident in her voice. <\/span><\/p>\n

I shift on my feet, my voice terse. \u201cI like my house. It\u2019s fine. I\u2019m fine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Silence falls between us, an awkward air moving in like a fast-moving cold front. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIs this because of New Orleans?\u201d Reid finally asks, taking a seat next to Brig. Both of my brothers fix their gazes on me, waiting for an answer. <\/span><\/p>\n

Why is this a thing whenever we talk about my love life? Can\u2019t they just let it go? What happened was \u2026 hell, I don\u2019t even know how to describe it. All I know is I don\u2019t foresee love in my future. <\/span><\/p>\n

Claire was the love of my life, and I lost her; in a blink of an eye she was gone. I\u2019m not going through that again. Not ever. <\/span><\/p>\n

Shaking my head, I turn away from my family. This conversation is over. <\/span><\/p>\n

And with that, I take the cash to the back office, where I can get some peace and quiet. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ask Ren Winters out on a date? Not going to happen. <\/span><\/p>\n

And she\u2019s not going to drive my truck either. I think that\u2019s evident in the fact that she drove her car in between two trees. <\/span><\/p>\n

Can\u2019t blame a guy there.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
