Que in\u00edcio maravilhoso para uma s\u00e9rie! Esse foi meu primeiro livro escrito pela Michele e eu estou feliz que eu resolvi dar uma nova chance a uma nova autora para mim. O livro tem o perfeito balan\u00e7o entre romance e suspense, fazendo ao mesmo tempo voc\u00ea torcer pelo casal e querer descobrir toda a trama policial. Emma \u00e9 uma hero\u00edna forte e determinada, mesmo com tudo que ela sofreu nas m\u00e3os de sua m\u00e3e, ou at\u00e9 mesmo por esse motivo. Aiden \u00e9 o namorado perfeito que todos queriam ter, apoiando Emma em tudo e a ajudando a sair de sua concha. No in\u00edcio eu pensei que o relacionamento dele estava ocorrendo r\u00e1pido demais, mas depois entendi que isso era necess\u00e1rio para Emma, com sua sede de viver e aproveitar sua liberdade. Uma hist\u00f3ria cr\u00edvel, com vil\u00f5es que amamos odiar, bons amigos e familiares. Mal posso esperar para ler os outros livros da s\u00e9rie.<\/td>\nWow! What a great start for a series!! It’s my first book by Michele and I’m really glad that I gave a chance to it. A perfect balance between romance and suspense, it keeps you guessing what will happen from the beginning. Emma was so strong, even if with all that she had to endure in her life. Aiden was the perfect book boyfriend. It was good to see Emma getting out of her shell and how she was helped. Sometimes I thought their relationship was too fast, too soon, but at the same time I understood she needed to live for once in her life. If a credible story, hated villains and great family and friends, I can’t wait to read more about this group of characters.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

When I open the front door, Emma forces a smile to her lips, but I can see it doesn\u2019t reach her eyes.
\nIt feels like I\u2019ve lost her, and my heart clenches painfully.
\nEmma steps inside, her body tense as she glances around the foyer, and up at the stairs.
\nI hate that she\u2019s uncomfortable in my home.
\nHaving little to no strength left after the nightmare of a week, it feels like I\u2019m about to break.
\n\u201cEmma.\u201d I close the door and take a step closer to her. \u201cTell me what happened. What you\u2019re feelin\u2019 and thinkin\u2019? Let me help you.\u201d
\nMy eyes get stuck on the purple discoloration around her neck.
\nI know from experience what causes marks like that. Emma was choked. It explains why her voice is practically gone.
\nRage makes me bite the words out, \u201cWhat happened to your neck?\u201d
\nWhen she presses her lips firmly together, refusing to talk, I take a step closer to her. Her body instantly goes tense, and she clenches her hands.
\nFuck, not that.
\n\u201cEmma, what did they do to you?\u201d My voice is low with fear.
\n\u201cNothing,\u201d she whispers.
\nI can\u2019t stand the distance between us and I take the few steps separating us. I take hold of Emma\u2019s clenched hands and pin them to my chest. She won\u2019t open them or look at me.
\n\u201cPlease, Em. Let me share the pain. Let me help you through this.\u201d She shakes her head, her breath catching in her throat. I brush my fingers over her cheek and lean closer. \u201cWho hit you?\u201d
\nShe opens her mouth, and at first, only a rasp of air comes out.
\nIt hurts like hell to see her like this.
\nThen she presses her forehead against my chest and finally whispers, \u201cColton.\u201d
\nFucking bastard. I wish I\u2019d killed him when I had the chance.
\nI wrap my arms around her, wishing I could give her all of the strength I have left. I\u2019m used to being in control, to being able to handle everything, but all my power has been stripped away from me.
\nPressing a kiss to her temple, I softly say, \u201cTell me what they did so I can make them pay.\u201d
\nShe pushes against my chest, and I take a step back.
\nHer face is tight with anger. \u201cYou think you can actually do something about it?\u201d
\nI frame her face and make her look at me. \u201cEmma, I can. I\u2019m not your dad. I\u2019ll prosecute them with everything I have.\u201d
\n\u201cThis is not about my fucking dad,\u201d she screams, her voice breaking over the words. \u201cYou can\u2019t do anything about it, Aiden. It fucking happened. It\u2019s done. Nothing you do will change that.\u201d
\nHer arms wrap around her waist, and hunching over, a broken cry tears from her. My heart shatters at the sight of her crumbling right before my eyes.
\nI move forward, but she sags to the floor, whimpering, \u201cDon\u2019t touch me.\u201d
\nFeeling helpless as fuck, I watch the woman I love with every single beat of my heart, fall apart.
\nI sit down beside her, needing to let her know I\u2019m not going anywhere.<\/b><\/p>\n
