Preciso come\u00e7ar dizendo que eu amo livro com m\u00fasicos e Downbeat n\u00e3o decepciona! Um romance lindo, constru\u00eddo com carinho e desenvolvido aos poucos, fazendo voc\u00ea se apaixonar pelos personagens e torcer pelo seu final feliz.
\nPaxton n\u00e3o \u00e9 seu roqueiro comum, ele n\u00e3o est\u00e1 interessado numa vida de sexo, drogas e rock’n roll. Ele quer ter o mesmo que seus companheiros de banda, um amor para chamar de seu e uma fam\u00edlia. E ele encontra tudo isso em Kylie. Algu\u00e9m que o entende, ama conversar e tem uma fam\u00edlia dedicada. Amei acompanhar essa hist\u00f3ria se formando e todas as surpresinhas que tivemos pelo caminho!<\/p>\n

First of all, I love music stars’ books e Downbeat doesn’t changed it! A beautiful romance, written with care and somewhat of a slow burn. It makes you fall in love with the characters and hope for a happily ever after.
\nPaxton is not your typical rock star. He doesn’t want to be in the limelight, he wants what his friends have. Love, family and peace. Can he find it in Kylie? Someone to talk, to cherish, that has a family.
\nI loved reading this stories and that happened in there to surprise us!<\/p>\n

He slides his hand into mine as we chase after Jayce through the arcade, watching him bounce from game to game. It doesn\u2019t bother him that he doesn\u2019t know how to play or whether he\u2019s heard of it. If it\u2019s available, he wants it.<\/span>
\n\u201cAnything you want to do?\u201d Pax looks over, still holding my hand with no intention of letting go. A million little butterflies take off in my stomach. Being with Pax is so natural, it doesn\u2019t even phase me anymore when he does things like this, acting like two people who have known each other for years rather than weeks.<\/span><\/div>\n
Looking over, I see a race car game that opened up. Way back when, I used to be good at these.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cRace you,\u201d I say, dropping his hand and taking off like I\u2019m one of the kids. Pax laughs behind me, as does Jayce, though neither are moving fast.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll help you,\u201d Jayce says, acting like my own cheering section.<\/span><\/div>\n
With Pax in the seat next to me, it\u2019s hard to focus on the screen. I turn the wheel to choose my car, finally selecting one that had a good ratio of speed and acceleration.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cReady?\u201d the computer voice says. A digital, scantily-clad woman appears on the screen between our two cars with a flag in hand and the beach behind her.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cGo!\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I stomp on the gas pedal and weave around pedestrians and other cars, trying to catch up to Pax who flew off the starting line like a pro. Damn, I may be rusty at this.<\/span><\/div>\n
Jayce\u2019s directions aren\u2019t helping as I hit the wall for the third time, dropping all the way to last place. Why can\u2019t this be like Mario Cart? I could really use a blue tortoiseshell right about now.<\/span><\/div>\n
Needless to say, I didn\u2019t win. Pax leans over, cracking his knuckles as he stretches his arms out in front of him. \u201cI thought this was going to be a challenge.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
That\u2019s it. There\u2019s gotta be something I can beat him at.<\/span><\/div>\n
I look around, desperate to find something that will give me hope.<\/span><\/div>\n
Nothing. I suck at video games, always have, always will. Instead, I opt for one of the non-video games in the entire place.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThere,\u201d I say, pointing to the basketball hoops.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cReally?\u201d He looks me up and down. \u201cYou don\u2019t seem like you have the height.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I shove at his shoulder. \u201cIt\u2019s not like I\u2019m going against Shaq.\u201d He\u2019s a basketball player, right?<\/span><\/div>\n
Pax laughs and leads the three of us to the hoops.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cCan I try?\u201d Jayce asks.<\/span><\/div>\n
I hand him one of the balls. \u201cI don\u2019t think you\u2019re tall enough but go ahead and try.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
To my surprise, Pax lifts him off the floor, holding him high enough to take a shot. \u201cNow he is.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
The ball goes in with ease, leaving the two of them whooping and hollering, slapping each other\u2019s hands, finally ending in a fist bump. He\u2019s turning my own son against me.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cOkay, Mama, your turn.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I dribble the ball against the carpet \u2013 which is useless because it doesn\u2019t bounce \u2013 and raise my arms to take a shot. The ball flies over the safety net, hits the front of the rim and straight down.<\/span><\/div>\n
Pax holds up Jayce again, repeating the same motions as before. With each shot, mine fall short while theirs sinks in.<\/span><\/div>\n
I give up.<\/span><\/div>\n
When the buzzer sounds, I acknowledge my defeat. \u201cThat\u2019s not fair. There\u2019s two of you.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Jayce hugs my waist. \u201cIt\u2019s okay, Mama. We\u2019ll teach you how to play.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Pax snorts and turns away. I smile down at my son and ruffle his hair.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThanks, buddy.\u201d Pulling out my phone, I glance at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s getting late and you need to take a bath.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
A collective whine from the two of them brings a smile to my face. \u201cDo we have to?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I nod. \u201cYes. Time to go home.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
We walk to my car, letting Jayce crawl in first so I can secure his seat belt. Pax holds out his arm, wrapping it around my waist to stop my progress around the car.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cYou know, I\u2019m kinda dirty too. Wanna take a bath with me?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Everything clenches south of my navel at the thought of being naked with him. I\u2019m not sure if we\u2019re ready to take that leap yet.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had enough firsts for today. How about we save that one for later?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
He smiles, the corners of his eyes crinkling in the corners. \u201cCan\u2019t blame a guy for trying.\u201d Leaning down, Pax kisses my lips, softly, tenderly, not taking it further than necessary in public and in case prying little eyes spot us.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cDid you drive to the beach? I suppose you need your bike.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Pax shakes his head. \u201cNah, I walked. I can call an Uber.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cGet in the car,\u201d I say with authority. It\u2019s not often I use my mom-voice, but it\u2019s ridiculous that he even suggested getting a ride from someone else.<\/span><\/div>\n
Once we\u2019re all situated, I head down the road, following Pax\u2019s directions to his place. Since I was passed out the first time I went there, and then too focused on the man between my legs the second time, I didn\u2019t remember where it was. It doesn\u2019t shock me that he\u2019s down the street from Grounded. No wonder why he\u2019s always there.<\/span><\/div>\n
Pax opens Jayce\u2019s door and gives him a high five. \u201cSee you later, bud.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cBye, Pax. Come play with me soon, okay?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
With a final fist bump, he blows it up as they both laugh. \u201cYou got it.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I step out of the car and stand by the door. Pax traps me with his arms, caging me in while leaning into me.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhen can I see you again?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I chew on my bottom lip. He frees it with his thumb, only to find it trapped again because I can\u2019t stop fidgeting with him this close.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cMy next day off is on Saturday. Weekends are better for me.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
He pushes a lock of hair away from my face, running the finger down my cheek until he\u2019s cupping my jaw, tilting my head up to stare directly into his bright, hazel eyes.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThen weekends it is. I want them all. Yours and Jayce\u2019s. I had a lot of fun today. More fun than I\u2019ve had in a while.\u201d He kisses the tip of my nose. \u201cBut don\u2019t think you\u2019re off the hook during the week. I expect excellent customer service when I stop in for my coffee.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
I laugh, clinging to his shirt while resting my forehead against his shoulder. Every muscle in my body relaxes as he holds me in his arms. This feels more natural than anything else I\u2019ve ever experienced. It pains me to walk away and leave him here.<\/span><\/div>\n
